David Warner will be livid with himself as that is a soft dismissal. Washington Sundar keeps coming from around the wicket and angled a short ball down the leg side. Warner sits down and swivels before pulling it flat and over backward square leg. Harry Brook in the deep comes charging in from the fence and dives to his left to grab a solid catch with both hands. Sundar gets the big fish and Delhi are now three down. 57/3Phil Salt(Wk) 0 1 0 0 0.00 c Heinrich Klaasen b Bhuvneshwar Kumar0.3 Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Philip Salt, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Bhuvneshwar Kumar draws first blood! Philip Salt goes back for a golden duck. Kumar lands this on a hard length and around off, shaping away sharply, Philip Salt looks to guide it towards third man, but only manages to get a thin outside edge towards the keeper where Heinrich Klaasen pouches it safely. There is a muted appeal for the catch as nobody is sure, but up goes the finger and the Hyderabad players are delighted. Delhi lose their first wicket! 1/1Mitchell Marsh25 15 5 0 166.67 lbw b T. Natarajan4.4 T Natarajan to Mitchell Marsh, OUT! LBW! T Natarajan strikes! He gets the big man, Mitchell Marsh! This is a really good review from Hyderabad. T Natarajan bowls this on a good length around middle and leg, nips away a bit, Mitchell Marsh looks to work it away, but misses and gets hit on the pads. There is a huge appeal for LBW, but turned down as it looks like pitching down the leg side. However, UltraEdge shows that no bat involved and Ball Tracking indicates three reds. Hyderabad players starts celebrating, but Marsh will have make that long walk back after a good cameo. Delhi two down now! 39/2Sarfaraz Khan10 9 0 1 111.11 c Bhuvneshwar Kumar b Washington Sundar7.4 Washington Sundar to Sarfaraz Khan, OUT! TAKEN! Sarfaraz Khan gets caught out at the exact same place as David Warner and that is poor cricket from him. Washington Sundar pushes this one through quicker and on middle and leg, Khan gets down on one knee and looks to sweep it over the backward square leg fence but gets a top edge on it. Bhuvneshwar Kumar comes rushing in from the deep and dives in fronto to take a brilliant catch. Sundar strikes twice in one over and Delhi are in a spot of bother here. 58/4Manish Pandey34 27 2 0 125.93 run out (Washington Sundar)18.2 T Natarajan to Manish Pandey, OUT! RUN OUT! Washington Sundar with a dream throw from the deep and Manish Pandey has to walk back. Just short of a length over middle and leg and Pandey crunches the pull shot toward deep mid-wicket. Washington Sundar there gets his hands behind the ball and fumbles the ball. The batter push hard for the second but Sundar picks up the ball and throws it right on the top of the stumps and Heinrich Klaasen didn't have to move an inch and whips off the bails. The replays roll in and Pandey is found short of his crease even after the dive. 134/7Aman Hakim Khan4 2 1 0 200.00 c Abhishek Sharma b Washington Sundar7.6 Washington Sundar to Aman Khan, OUT! CAUGHT! What is happening out there? It seems like the Delhi batters just want to go hard or go home. Washington Sundar pulls back the length and angles this one across the right-hander. Aman Khan throws the kitchen sink at it but ends up slicing it high and toward the cover region. Abhishek Sharma there settles under it and takes a simple catch. Delhi have now lost half their side in 8 overs. 62/5Axar Patel34 34 4 0 100.00 b Bhuvneshwar Kumar17.5 Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Axar Patel, OUT! TIMBER! Bhuvneshwar Kumar with another excellent yorker and Axar Patel has to walk back. Full and straight around 132 clicks and right at the base of the stumps. Axar stays deep in his crease and looks to flick it away but the ball sneaks under the ball to go on and crash into the middle stump. Bhuvneshwar Kumar gets his second wicket and Axar walks back after a fighting knock. 131/6Ripal Patel5 6 0 0 83.33 run out (Heinrich Klaasen)19.4 Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Kuldeep Yadav, OUT! RUN OUT! Yet another run out and Delhi are finishing with a flurry of wickets here. This is slower and fuller from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, pushed outside off. Kuldeep Yadav tries to reach out and tap it away but misses and Ripal Patel tries to scamper through for a bye. Heinrich Klaasen behind the stumps picks up the ball and under-arms it back onto the stumps. Ripal is well short. Also, Ishant Sharma is the last man in. 139/9Anrich Nortje2 2 0 0 100.00 run out (Umran Malik)19.2 Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Ripal Patel, OUT! RUN OUT! A huge mix-up in the middle and Anrich Nortje has to depart now. Bhuvneshwar Kumar gets in another yorker at the stumps and Ripal Patel flicks it away toward deep square leg. Ripal pushes hard for two but Nortje says no. Ripal forces the run and Nortje has to go for it but the former then retreats back. Umran Malik fires in a throw at the keeper's end and Heinrich Klaasen whips off the bails with ease as Nortje is nowhere in the frame. Also, Kuldeep Yadav is the new man in. 139/8Kuldeep Yadav4 3 1 0 133.33 not outIshant Sharma1 1 0 0 100.00 not outExtras 4 (W 2, LB 2) Total runs 144 (9 wkts, 20 ov) Yet to batMukesh Kumar (IP)Fall of wickets1/1 (P. Brilliant change of pace from Axar Patel and he gets the breakthrough. The last delivery was almost 100 clicks and this is slowed down to just 82.8 clicks. Axar Patel angles it in on a nagging length around middle and leg. Mayank Agarwal looks to come down the track but is through his lofted shot way too early and ends up chipping it down to long on where Aman Khan takes a simple catch. Ishant Sharma picks up a wicket on his return to the attack and Hyderabad in trouble here. Lovely length and perfect line just around the off pole. This is bowled at 140 clicks and just seams away a touch off the deck. Rahul Tripathi stays rooted to the crease and looks for the expansive drive but gets a faint edge on it and the ball is easily pouched by Philip Salt behind the sticks. Tripathi departs after a sluggish knock. 75/3Abhishek Sharma5 5 0 0 100.00 c & b Kuldeep Yadav13.3 Kuldeep Yadav to Abhishek Sharma, OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! Kuldeep Yadav with an excellent return catch and Delhi tighten their grip further. Tosses this one up on off stump, Abhishek Sharma steps down the track and drives it uppishly but doesn't followthrough. The ball is not hit hard rather just timed to the left of the bowler where Yadav sticks out both hands to his left and holds on to the ball. Sharma departs cheaply and Hyderabad are four down now. 79/4Aiden Markram(C) 3 5 0 0 60.00 b Axar Patel14.1 Axar Patel to Aiden Markram, OUT! PLAYED ON! Axar Patel comes back and sends the Hyderabad skipper packing. Flatter delivery, angled in from outside off and at 99.8 clicks. Aiden Markram goes back and across trying to cut it away but the ball slides in with the angle and takes the inside edge before castling into middle and leg. Markram cannot believe it but Axar is delighted and rightly so. 85/5Heinrich Klaasen(Wk) 31 19 3 1 163.16 c Aman Hakim Khan b Anrich Nortje18.3 Anrich Nortje to Heinrich Klaasen, OUT! TAKEN! Anrich Nortje gets his man this time! This is full and around off, Heinrich Klaasen tries to go for the big shot again, but slices it a bit and it flies in the air towards sweeper covers where Aman Khan takes a fine low catch under pressure. Heinrich Klaasen stands there in disappointment, but he has done his job. | 11:44 pmRight then, a new week in the 2023 Indian T20 League kicks off with a humdinger of a game and now 8 of the last 11 games have gone to the final delivery or thereabouts. The action now moves to Ahmedabad on Tuesday, the 25th of April as Gujarat take on Mumbai in a clash of the western giants. That game will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT) but our build-up will begin much sooner. Cheers! |
11:42 pmAxar Patel is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliant all-round showing with bat and ball. He starts by saying that the 34 runs with the bat were more important than the two wickets. Adds that he couldn't understand what happened as he just ordered a coffee, but before it got delivered they lost three wickets in the same over and he quickly padded up. Tells that it took him time to take it in and the plan was to take it deep along with Manish Pandey to at least give them a chance of defending it. Says that the wicket wasn't that easy to bat on and ends by saying that he enjoyed the wicket of Mayank Agarwal more when asked about his two dismissals.
11:36 pmDavid Warner, the captain of Delhi says that he loves it here and the crowd is amazing and goes on to thank the fans for hanging around. Adds that this is why they play the game and it is great for them to get the two points. Goes on to credit Mukesh Kumar for the way he bowled and mentions that their two spinners have been the rock for them. On Ishant Sharma, he says that Ishant told him from day one that he was ready and unfortunately he fell sick a couple of games back but was brilliant in this game. Ends by saying that a lot of teams still have more points than them and for them, it is about resetting and going again.
11:31 pmThe Presentation ceremony...
11:29 pmAnrich Nortje is down for a quick chat. He says that he is happy to get the win. Adds that it was not the ideal performance as they would have liked a few more runs but the bowlers did well. Tells that the spinners were good in the middle overs and the pacers also did the job. Mentions that the message at the break was to bowl on the good length. Says that he was a little bit off in this game, but got away with it in the end. Ends by saying that Mukesh Kumar had a very clear plan and was focused and executed it perfectly which was really inspiring.
11:31 pmAiden Markram, the captain of Hyderabad says that there was not enough intent with the bat and they let themselves down again. Adds that they need to go back and see how to chase better and play more freely. Mentions that they want to play a certain brand of cricket, but they lacked intent. Tells that he enjoys cheering up the guys, but they also need to understand what works for them. Credits the bowlers for their amazing performance and says they used the conditions well and that was the only positive in this game.
11:27 pmEarlier in the game, David Warner won the toss and opted to bat on a surface that wasn't the easiest one to bat on and right from the get-go, the batters struggled a bit. Philip Salt fell first ball after which Mitchell Marsh came in and started blasting the ball away but once he fell, things went downhill for Delhi. Washington Sundar picked up three wickets in a single over and Delhi were in a bit of a fix. The stand between Manish Pandey and Axar Patel proved to be decisive as both batters went on to score 30-plus runs and managed to take the score above 140 runs. Apart from Sundar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was exceptional with the ball for Hyderabad as he picked up a couple of wickets giving away hardly any runs. Coming to the chase, it was engrossing from start to finish as Delhi held their nerve and did enough through the middle phase with the ball to pick up their second win of the season.
11:23 pmHyderabad will be gutted with that loss but all of the blame has to go to that batting lineup which just didn't have enough intent in it. Harry Brook continued to struggle against the new ball and got out cheaply and after that, Rahul Tripathi too played a sluggish knock. Mayank Agarwal did start well and looked to be in a good flow out there but with wickets falling and his partners unable to score runs quickly, he fell on 49 trying to up the ante. Hyderabad seemed to be falling well short but the duo of Heinrich Klaasen and Washington Sundar did shift gears toward the end only to end up on the losing side as the batters above them just didn't do enough.
11:20 pmDelhi seemed certainly 15-20 runs short at the interval with only 144 runs on the board but they have defended a low score in fine fashion. Ishant Sharma bowled a lovely spell up top and so did Anrich Nortje who got rid of a struggling Harry Brook. The spinners then came on and kept on the pressure from both ends, not letting the boundaries to flow. The spin duo of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav got three wickets in between them and were highly economical too. Nortje bowled well at the death as well and even though Mukesh Kumar got a bit of stick in his second over, he came back in to bowl a fantastic final over and sealed the win for his team.
11:16 pmWhat a final over from Mukesh Kumar under pressure and Delhi have now gone on to win back-to-back games! This could be a huge season-changing win for Delhi but for Hyderabad, it is yet another tough loss at home.

The ball is not hit hard rather just timed to the left of the bowler where Yadav sticks out both hands to his left and holds on to the ball. Anrich Nortje gets his man this time! |
