Bhuvneshwar Kumar breaks the partnership and Tilak Varma departs after a good attacking cameo to get some momentum into the Mumbai inning! This is a slower delivery bowled full and outside the off pole. Tilak Varma charges down the wicket and looks to loft this over the off-side boundary. Tilak Varma has to reach for the ball and toe ends this inro the air towards deep point. Mayank Agarwal settles under this and makes no mistale grabbing onto the ball. Tim David sacrifices his wicket for an extra run but Mumbai will feel they have a formidable target on the board! T Natarajan delivers this full and on the pads. Cameron Green flicks this towards deep mid-wicket and both batters scamper across looking for a couple of runs. Abhishek Sharma comes running in from the boundary and picks up the ball cleanly. He throws at the non-striker's end and T Natarajan collects the ball before whipping the bails off. Tim David is well short of his crease and Mumbai end at 192 for the loss of 5 wickets. 192/5Extras 2 (W 2) Total runs 192 (5 wkts, 20 ov) Yet to batHrithik Shokeen · Piyush Chawla · Nehal Wadhera · Arjun Tendulkar · Jason Behrendorff · Riley Meredith (IP)Fall of wickets41/1 (R. CAUGHT! Jason Behrendorff draws first blood and gets the dangerous Harry Brook on a single-digit score! Bangs this in short and into the batter. Harry Brook looks to pull this away but ends up getting cramped for room and top edges this high into the air towards the off side. Suryakumar Yadav calls for this one and settles under the ball to take it low. Mumbai have just the start they wanted and will now look to press the advantage. Hyderabad need to build a partnership here before going after the bowling. 11/1Mayank Agarwal48 41 4 1 117.07 c Tim David b Riley Meredith14.5 Riley Meredith to Mayank Agarwal, OUT! CAUGHT! Two wickets in consecutive overs and both set batters are back in the shed! Mayank Agarwal departs two short of his half-century and just like that, the momentum has shifted back in Mumbai's favor! Riley Meredith misses his yorker by a fraction but the low full toss is good enough to mess with Mayank Agarwal's timing. This is just outside off and the batter looks to clear the long on ropes but ends up mistiming just wide of the fielder in the deep. Tim David moves well to his right and takes an overhead catch to have Hyderabad reeling at six wickets down. Mumbai will feel like the tide has sifted their way but will want to wrap this inning up at the earliest. 132/6Rahul Tripathi7 5 1 0 140.00 c Ishan Kishan b Jason Behrendorff3.4 Jason Behrendorff to Rahul Tripathi, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Jason Behrendorff has two wickets and Rahul Tripathi is the latest casualty of some good left-arm fast bowling! This is bowled on a good length and angling away outside the off pole. Rahul Tripathi hangs his bat out to dry and gets a faint edge towards the keeper. Ishan Kishan makes no mistake catching the ball while falling to his right. Hyderabad are now two wickets down inside the Powerplay and this run chase is not going as per their plans. Mumbai will feel they are right on top here. 25/2Aiden Markram(C) 22 17 1 1 129.41 c Hrithik Shokeen b Cameron Green8.4 Cameron Green to Aiden Markram, OUT! TAKEN! Cameron Green strikes! The bowling change has worked wonders for Mumbai as they get rid of Aiden Markram now. Green lands this on a good length and on middle, Aiden Markram goes for the swipe, but goes through it early and the ball flies in the air of the bottom half of the bat towards deep square leg where Hrithik Shokeen takes a fine catch coming forward. Hyderabad three down now! 71/3Abhishek Sharma1 2 0 0 50.00 c Tim David b Piyush Chawla9.1 Piyush Chawla to Abhishek Sharma, OUT! TAKEN! Two wickets in two overs and Mumbai are right back in the game! Piyush Chawla gets a wicket now! He tosses up this googly, on middle, turning away a bit, Abhishek Sharma goes inside out to loft it over extra covers, but fails to read it and hits it off the inside half of the bat. As a result, the ball goes in the air towards long off where Tim David runs forward and pouches it safely. Hyderabad four down now and in trouble! 72/4Heinrich Klaasen(Wk) 36 16 4 2 225.00 c Tim David b Piyush Chawla13.6 Piyush Chawla to Heinrich Klaasen, OUT! CAUGHT! Piyush Chawla has the last laugh but has Heinrich Klaasen done the required damage? Piyush Chawla bowls this short and in line with the stumps, much quicker in the air. Heinrich Klaasen goes onto the backfoot and looks to loft this over long on but gets a lot of height on his shot. The ball starts to fall inside the ropes and Tim David settles under it to take a comfortable catch. Hyderabad have lost half their side now but are well in the hunt to get over the finish line. Mumbai needed this breakthrough and will hope for some tight overs now. 127/5Abdul Samad(IP) 9 12 1 0 75.00 run out (Hrithik Shokeen)19.2 Arjun Tendulkar to Abdul Samad, OUT! RUN OUT! There was never a double there! Abdul Samad throws his wicket away. This is very full and outside off, Abdul Samad squeezes it towards deep point and tries to come back for the second, but Hrithik Shokeen gets to the ball quickly and throws at the keeper's end where Ishan Kishan does the rest with Samad not even in the frame. Mumbai one wicket away from victory! 174/9Marco Jansen13 6 3 0 216.67 c Tim David b Riley Meredith16.4 Riley Meredith to Marco Jansen, OUT! TAKEN! Riley Meredith gets his man now! And it is Tim David again with his fourth catch of the match. Riley Meredith bangs this short and on off, slower too, Marco Jansen moves back to pull, but goes through it early and mistimes it. As a result, it goes high in the air towards long on where Tim David comes forward and takes the catch. Hyderabad seven down now! 149/7Washington Sundar10 6 2 0 166.67 run out (Tim David)17.5 Jason Behrendorff to Washington Sundar, OUT! RUN OUT! This is really sloppy from Washington Sundar! He gives his wicket away here in a crucial moment like this, but Mumbai won't mind. Jason Behrendorff serves this full and on off, Washington Sundar drills it towards mid off and sets off for the run, Tim David picks up the ball and hits bullseye at the bowler's end where Sundar is lazy and did not put the dive too and they go for the overthrows. However, the replay shows that Sundar is short of his crease. You cannot leave Tim David out of this game, he is everywhere for Mumbai! 165/8Bhuvneshwar Kumar2 5 0 0 40.00 c Rohit Sharma b Arjun Tendulkar19.5 Arjun Tendulkar to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, OUT! TAKEN! | 11:56 pmRight then, that is it from this enthralling tie and Mumbai have managed to climb up the table with a crucial win. The 16th edition of the Indian T20 League is keeping up to its expectations and the action continues on Wednesday, 19th April as Rajasthan take on Lucknow at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The game is at 7.30 pm (2 pm GMT), but the build-up will begin well in advance. Do join us and until then, goodbye and cheers! |
11:53 pmCameron Green is the Player of the Match for his all-round effort scoring 64 in 40 deliveries with the bat and ending with match figures of 4-0-29-1 with the ball. He says that the first couple of games were a learning curve for him and the team but now they have three wins in a row. Claims that they were in a bit of a sticky situation at the end but they stuck to their plan and he is glad they came through. Mentions that his death bowling is a work in progress and hopefully he can get there. Ends by saying that they want to keep the winning momentum going.
11:49 pmRohit Sharma the skipper of Mumbai says that he loves playing at this ground and has fond memories as he has played three years here and also won one trophy. Adds that it is important to back the young players and they are improving game by game which is great to see. Mentions that he is liking what he is doing and it is crucial to utilize the Powerplay and one of him or Ishan Kishan tries to go big. Praises Tilak Varma by saying that he is a really good player and his approach is great as he plays the ball and not the bowler which shows great maturity. Tells that it is quite exciting to see Arjun Tendulkar play as he has been part of this team for the last three years and he is quite confident in himself. Adds that Arjun tries to swing the ball upfront and then nail the yorkers at the death so it is good to see him developing.
11:44 pmTime for the presentations...
11:43 pmArjun Tendulkar is up for a chat and he says that it was great to get his first wicket in this league. Adds that he was just focusing on his plan to bowl wide and execute them for the team. Mentions that he is happy to bowl at any time whenever the skipper needs him and tries to give his best. Tells that he talks about some tactics with his father, Sachin Tendulkar before the games. Ends by saying that he just focuses on his release and if it swings, it is a bonus.
11:38 pmMumbai got off to a steady start having been asked to bat first but Rohit Sharma failed to convert his start to a big score once again. Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green negotiated the spinners in the middle phase well with the latter remaining unbeaten on 64. Tilak Varma was the one who changed the tempo of the inning scoring 37 in just 17 deliveries and Tim David helped them reach an above-par total. The fast bowlers for Hyderabad were expensive but claimed the wickets with Marco Jansen picking two while T Natarajan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar chipped in with one each. They leaked far too many runs in the death overs and it was always going to be a tough ask for their batters to chase this down.
11:42 pmThe visitors had the momentum on their side after a strong finish to the first inning and Jason Behrendorff got them right on top with two early wickets inside the Powerplay. The middle overs were controlled by Cameron Green and Piyush Chawla with both picking up a wicket each till the opposition started to take the attack to them. Piyush Chawla managed to dismiss the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen against the run of play ending his spell with two wickets and Riley Meredith claimed a couple of crucial scalps to peg Hyderabad back. With 20 runs required to win in the last over, Rohit Sharma opted to give the ball to Arjun Tendulkar in just his second match but he came out with flying colours as two wickets fell in his five balls and just four runs came off it. They will be happy that they finally managed to defend a target in this edition of the Indian T20 league.
11:40 pmHarry Brook started from where he left off with a couple of cracking shots but skied a short delivery and was dismissed, derailing Hyderabad’s run chase early. Rahul Tripathi did not last long either and the onus was on Mayank Agarwal to keep the scoreboard ticking. Aiden Markram came out to the middle and together they added 46 runs for the third wicket but the skipper perished looking to accelerate. Abhishek Sharma could not trouble the scorers much but Heinrich Klaasen got them back in the game scoring 36 runs in 16 balls. He took 20 runs off Piyush Chawla in four balls but was dismissed on the last ball of the same over and Mayank Agarwal followed him back to the shed in the following over. Marco Jansen and Washington Sundar played a few shots to keep them in the hunt but in the end the lack of wickets proved to be decisive for them.
11:39 pmAn outstanding last over from Arjun Tendulkar under pressure! What a topsy-turvy encounter we have witnessed but in the end, the five-time champions have managed to hold their nerves to get over the finish line making it three wins in a row. They have come on the road and grabbed a crucial win to move to the top half of the table with a 14-run win. Hyderabad have seen their two-game winning run come to an end after an agonizingly close run chase as they were in the game several times during their reply but kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Marco Jansen serves the off-cutter again, full and around off this time, Suryakumar Yadav is not expecting that and goes for the drive, but is through his shot early and the ball flies in the air wide of mid off where Aiden Markram dives to his left to take a stunning catch. Mumbai lose their fourth wicket now. 151/4Tim David16 11 2 0 145.45 run out (Abhishek Sharma)19.6 T Natarajan to Cameron Green, OUT! RUN OUT! CAUGHT! RUN OUT! |
